8.3Verified guest“Hotels in Rio are pricey — more than New York. This little hostel has a top location near metro, buses, and a mall. I paid about US$80 per night for a suite — a compact room with a tiny private bathroom, TV, and mini fridge. Travelling with an 18-month-old, it was fine as a base. The room looked tired, with a big mould or water stain on the ceiling. The bathroom was dated and neglected. But the young staff were lovely, and the place was clean — no bugs or rats. Stayed two nights, just for sleeping. On day two, the AC leaked and I couldn't use it (it was hot even in winter). US$80 is cheap for Rio, but still a lot — a coat of paint and a bathroom refresh would do wonders, especially as labour is cheap. Staff, especially the cleaner, were super friendly.”
